With close to 50 locations and numerous job sites, tracking invoicing was problematic, Intratem provided the support to enable them to work with multiple wireless carriers for maximum savings. Due to the new Electronic Logging Device (ELD) mandate from for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Penhall must comply with its standards before the December 2017 deadline. The government has mandated that companies must electronically record a driver’s Record of Duty Status (RODS), which replaces the paper logbook some drivers currently use to record their compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.

Penhall’s new ELD compliance challenge presented an opportunity for Intratem to implement a customized Internet of Things (IoT) solution to ensure Penhall met the December deadline. Intratem provisioned all in-truck tablets with ELD compliance software, MDM, and the ability to communicate with IoT units. Intratem heads the management of this ELD project, eliminating the burden on the Penhall team. The additional IoT devices will be managed on a continuous basis by Intratem to maintain the lowest possible cost while still providing help desk support. The data collected from the IoT devices can not only benefit the department monitoring ELD compliance, but also be utilized in other mission critical areas of business.
